{"id":10104,"date":"2020-12-17T07:56:42","date_gmt":"2020-12-17T15:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.springboard.com\/?p=10104"},"modified":"2022-09-06T02:02:03","modified_gmt":"2022-09-06T09:02:03","slug":"springboard-women-who-code-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.springboard.com\/blog\/news\/springboard-women-who-code-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Springboard and Women Who Code Launch Joint Scholarship Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We&#8217;re very excited to announce that Springboard has partnered with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenwhocode.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women Who Code<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an international nonprofit dedicated to empowering women in technology, to launch the <\/span><strong>Springboard\/Women Who Code <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">scholarship program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ten scholarships worth $1,000 each will be awarded to women who enroll in Springboard\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springboard.com\/courses\/software-engineering-career-track\/\">Software Engineering Career Track<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springboard.com\/courses\/data-science-career-track\/\">Data Science Career Track<\/a>, or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springboard.com\/courses\/ai-machine-learning-career-track\/\">Machine Learning Career Track<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to the scholarships, the year-long partnership will also see Springboard and Women Who Code participate in co-branded recruiting initiatives to introduce more women to data science and software engineering careers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe founded Springboard with the goal of providing access to high-quality, specialized training so people from all walks of life can broaden their skills, increase their earning potential, and transition into highly sought-after jobs,\u201d said Parul Gupta, Springboard&#8217;s co-founder. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhen I began my career at IBM Research, I had very few female role models or mentors. With this partnership, Springboard and Women Who Code aim to increase female representation in technology.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women Who Code is building a world where women are proportionally representative as technical leaders, executives, founders, VCs, board members, and software engineers. The organization has executed more than 10,000 free events around the world, garnered a membership exceeding 200,000, and has a presence in 20 countries.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWomen make up 47% of all employed adults in the U.S., but they hold only 25% of computer science roles,\u201d said Alaina Percival, CEO at Women Who Code<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cWe envision a world where women are proportionally represented as technical leaders, executives, founders, VCs, board members, and software engineers. Together with Springboard, we\u2019re providing access to education, career resources, and opportunities for women to improve gender diversity, representation, and equity in the technology workforce.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Springboard mentors will also be available at Women Who Code events like <a href=\"https:\/\/connectforward.womenwhocode.dev\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Connect Forward,<\/a> an annual developer conference featuring workshops and code labs on topics like blockchain, mobile, web development, cloud, data science, security, and AI\/ML.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re very excited to announce that Springboard has partnered with Women Who Code, an international nonprofit dedicated to empowering women in technology, to launch the Springboard\/Women Who Code scholarship program.
