Data Science Bootcamps in Washington, DC
The District has long been considered an industry town, and politics certainly permeates every aspect of life in the city. But the greater Washington area is home to one of the internet’s pioneering companies, AOL, and its legacy of innovation and entrepreneurship continues today in the robust startup scene and the larger technology community.
With a high concentration of universities (including Georgetown, George Washington, American, James Madison, and Howard), the city enjoys a robust and diverse talent pipeline. Once here, the opportunities run the gamut from small incubator-hosted startups to Fortune 500 companies such as Lockheed Martin and Capital One to government agencies and related nonprofits.
Proximity to government means there are innumerable opportunities for people working in data analytics. The need for data exploration, modeling, and prediction is driven by a deep pool of federal government customers.
Local government also is investing in data. In 2017, the mayorss office launched The Lab @ DC, a first-of-its-kind in-house data science team within the city administrator’s Office of Performance Management. The Lab uses data-based evidence to inform decision making across local government.
