As a subject matter expert for Springboard’s Certified Medical Assistant program, Dr. Andrea Hefner brings extensive clinical, leadership, and academic experience to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals. A Family Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, she has served as full-time faculty across ASN and BSN programs, with expertise in simulation-based education, clinical instruction, and program coordination. Dr. Hefner’s clinical background spans medical-surgical nursing, emergency care, primary care, cardiology, and sleep medicine, with a focus on the management of complex medical conditions across the lifespan. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management and supervision, along with active certifications in medical coding, billing, and practice management—supported by years of operational and administrative experience. An engaged professional leader, Dr. Hefner has held board-level and leadership positions with the Florida Nurses Association (FNA) and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), where she has contributed to advancing practice standards, education, and professional development within the nursing and healthcare administration communities. Throughout her career, she has led both small and mid-sized teams, advanced patient-care quality initiatives, and mentored emerging clinicians.
